Jon, our design specialist, having learnt his trade from the antique markets at The Stables of Camden Lock in London in the 80’s, has worked on numerous demolition projects where he would salvage the original door furniture, recondition it and then resell the pieces through various contacts and outlets. Any other particularly interesting pieces that he found would be kept for future reference and reproduction. Jon’s eye for detail and his ability to recreate authentic door furniture has made him the UK’s leading designer of period architectural hardware.

Ben King, Jon’s younger brother, is our manufacturing partner and chief engineer of the door handles. Ben learned his craft firstly at Rover and then at British Leyland Landrover – he is certainly one of the most talented mechanical engineers around and one of his numerous skills is to build almost any gearbox from scratch, without the need for a manual. His exceptional machining skills mean that when one of the original door handle machines (some dating back to the Edwardian times) has any mechanical issue, Ben can repair it. These unique skills are imperative as the manufacturing business is based in the southern part of Africa, where Ben lives. Parts can be hard to find and Ben often makes the components himself, from scratch.

New to the team is our Operations Director, Mike Gregan. Mike has spent the last 35 years in the architectural hardware business and has a full wealth of knowledge in the specification and supply of architectural ironmongery for just about every kind of restoration or new build project you can imagine. Mike has overseen hardware contracts for stately homes, palaces, castles, National Trust properties and Category A listed buildings throughout the country and overseas. Mike will be on hand to answer any queries or concerns you may have regarding your project and the suitability of ours and associated products.
